Hello, Memory Bound Friends!
Today I would like to share with you a fun and easy trick that Diane showed me. It was such and AHHA moment!
When Diane saw Tim Holtz's Tinsel Twine, it was love at first sight for her! Diane LOVES her tinsel and couldn't wait to create with this fabulous package of shiny love!
Well, she started to create and then realized the tinsel was off a little. Off? You ask. Diane wanted a vintage look for her project and the tinsel just did not have that feel. So she decided to fix it!
Diane grabbed her splat mat and Tim Hotlz Mushroom ink. She switched the ink pad on her blending tool to an alcohol pad. She dripped a few drops of the ink on to the pad and rubbed the tinsel.
As you can see, the tinsel took the brown ink without a problem! When you place the vintage tinsel beside the "new" tinsel, you can really see the difference! Love this idea AND super easy!
Diane loved the effect so much, that she tried this same technique on her charms. Worked like a "charm!" (heehee)
At this point, I can just imagine Diane sitting at her desk and looking around her room wondering, "What else can I ink?" She spots her Tim Holtz Christmas flash cards and goes to town with her mushroom ink and blending tool! Nothing is safe!
Oh, she is on a roll now! She grabs her new pack of Tim Holtz Crinkle Ribbon. She doesn't care that it is going to take weeks to get all that ink off her fingers! She inks the entire pack!
I apologize..I got a little dramatic.
Now, to put all that inked goodness together! She punched holes on each end of the flashcards, tied them together alternating the ribbon and tinsel and added a few charms. Ta-Daaaa! A garland!
She placed her garland on one of her Christmas trees and added a few vintage ornaments. Looks perfect and absolutely beautiful!
Such a wonderful idea and super easy to create!
If you like Diane's idea, stop at the store and we will help you gather the items you'll need to create the same vintage garland! If you can't make it to the store, give us a call at 515-965-1102 and we would love to help you out!
Happy Holidays!
Katie
