Each day this week we are sharing an album using pocket pages made by one of our staff members. Today we are featuring two heritage projects. As you will see here, pocket pages can be used for much more than everyday photos!
A couple of years ago we shared Katie's heritage albums on our blog. You can read the entire post (which includes many more photos of her beautiful albums) HERE!
One of the things that I immediately noticed about Katie's albums was her use of pocket pages. I hadn't really considered using pocket pages for older photos until I saw her project...and the light bulb went on for me!
Take a look at how she used a 9-pocket page for older square photos. I love how she broke up the "grid" of this page with journaling and larger sticker letters.
Here she used small labels to add details to the photos. The pockets enabled her to include 8 photos on her page!
I have TONS of older square photos and plan to use pocket pages to get them in an album, thanks to Katie's inspiration!
She used a 4-pocket page some larger photos with heavy mats as well as some journaling.
Katie's albums are full of her family's history. They're truly heirlooms that her family will treasure for years to come! Thanks for the inspiration, Katie!

Our second project is a vintage postcard album I'm currently making. When I was sorting through some of my late grandma's things last fall, I discovered a box of old postcards, most of which had been mailed to my grandma's brother. I wanted to put them into an album but still be able to read the backs of the postcards, so pocket pages were perfect!
I used the same 6x8 SN@P albums that Jana used for her puppy albums (see this post HERE). My album contains 34 sleeves, so it has space for 68 postcards -- and it is almost full of postcards! I left some empty sleeves because I'm pretty sure I'll find more postcards in the remaining boxes I have yet to sort.
The album comes with three heavy dividers which I covered with paper. I will be adding photos of Grandma and her brother to these pages, as well as a note about the postcards, in order to give some context to this project.
When I first assembled the album, I started by sorting the postcards by holiday or season. The great thing about pocket pages is that I can change my mind and sort them another way in the future.
The album starts with New Year's postcards. These are two of my favorites. For each season, I've been removing one of my favorite postcards and displaying it on a small easel on our entryway table. Pocket pages make it easy to do this!
Some of the postcards are from local attractions.
I love how the sender simply wrote the recipient's name and town...no street address needed!
Many pages are devoted to Christmas postcards. Each one is very different and colorful! I used several of these postcards in my Christmas decorating last year.

If you have heritage projects to do, consider mixing in a few pocket pages! Pocket pages make it quick and easy incorporate lots of photos into your album and access them easily to share or display. Stop in and let us help you get started!

Each day this week we are featuring an album made by one of our staff members using pocket pages. Today's project is by Jana and showcases her adorable puppy, Elle. Actually, Jana filled TWO albums with Elle's photos and stories, since Elle is their first "child"! :)
Jana used the 6x8 SN@P binder for her project. These albums have kraft covers and can be customized as Jana did here.
Jana used a combination of full pages and several styles of pocket pages.
I could not tear myself away from Jana's wonderful albums! LOOK AT THAT FACE!
It's not a wonder that Elle has two whole albums (SO FAR!) devoted to her!
Another fun tip: Jana occasionally added embellishments to the OUTSIDE of the pocket! You can see this with the pink paw sticker in the photo below.
Jana added photos to the three heavy dividers which are included in the album. LOOK AT THESE BATH TIME PHOTOS!
Jana cut out the dog bone with our Accu Cut die cutting machine. Perfect accent for a puppy album!
Jana also added smaller "pages" without pockets. She simply punched holes in cardstock -- or in the photo itself -- and added to her album. This breaks up the album and gives it a fun, informal feel...perfect for a puppy! I love this idea!
As you can see, Jana made good use of both the 4x6 and 3x4 pre-made cards which are designed to fit the pockets. They are perfect to slip in when you are "short" a photo, need space for journaling, or want to mat a favorite picture.
Sometimes a story is in order....Oh, my goodness! I remember hearing about this incident!
And what baby album would be complete without a few nap time photos?
Jana also made pages for Elle's first birthday...
...and Elles' first Christmas! What a cutie!
I love this idea: She captured all of Elle's nicknames on one page!
Thanks to Jana for sharing her wonderful albums with us today! I'm inspired to make one (or ten!) for my kitties!
As you can see, pocket pages make scrapbooking super fast and fun! If you've never tried pocket pages, the 6x8 SN@P albums are a great way to start. Stop in to see samples of staff albums and let us help you plan your project!

Onto today's pocket page album created by me, Katie!
I have always loved Becky Higgins Project Life idea, but honestly, it overwhelmed me at the same time. So instead of scrapping each week, as Becky Higgins suggests, I actually scrap a month. Let me share....
I collect pictures and memorabilia (stuff) that I want to include in the scrapbook, throughout the month. Then I sit down and create pockets (not pages) of the events that I want to remember for the month. Take a peek...
Here, my boys put together a Lego theater over Christmas break. I used one of my favorite pocket pages, the three 4x6 horizontal pockets and two vertical 4x6 pockets. The configuration was perfect for a few pictures and journaling of the "event."
When I scrap, I use all different sizes of pages in my albums. Here I am using an 8.5x11 page refill for a newspaper article. I included a photo right on the article instead of placing it in it's own pocket.
Here I used the basic Project Life pocket page. It has four 4x6 pockets and four 4x3 pockets. I am crazy for the 4x3 journaling cards that so many companies are now releasing. They are so easy to add a few words using stickers and then journaling. SO fast! Again, these are random events and memories in these pockets throughout the month, not the week.
Another 8.5x11 pocket page holding random items I came across this month. Each item did not warrant it's own separate pocket, so I slid them all into one...done!
My favorite pocket page again! This time, I used two of the 4x6 pockets as 4x3 pockets! That is another "plus" when using pocket pages, you can change the dimensions and configurations of the pockets to fit your needs. I have also been know to cut pages to create exactly what I need AND sew pages too!
Jack's teacher sends out a weekly newsletter with pictures. Jack's picture was included with this newsletter, so I printed it out and slid it into an 8.5x11 pocket...EASY and DONE!
I must confess, I don't always get the entire process completed for the month in one sitting. At times I will place the pictures and memorabilia in the pockets and then go back to journal or add embellishments! I remind myself with post-it notes!
Other times, I don't even include journaling! A few pictures and a die cut from Memory Bound is all this page needed!
I really love this process and scrapbooking with pocket pages. I have found that it is truly a fast way to scrap and I actually get things done! Hope you see something that inspires you and don't forget to get your page refills today for 25 % off!
Happy Scrappin'
