Friday Iowa/Iowa State Crop Set for Sept 13!

 Hello, Memory Bound friends!
Even though it's super-hot outside this week, fall is just around the corner. The evenings will be getting cooler and soon football weather will be upon us!

Every year when football season rolls around, I remember a funny thing that happened with a sports-crazy boss I once had. I didn't know the first thing about sports but that didn't stop him from talking to me non-stop about basketball, baseball, and especially football. One Monday morning he called me on the phone from his upstairs office and excitedly exclaimed, "UNI won!"

Being completely oblivious to football, I thought he said "YOU AND I won!" which made me think I was about to get some sort of prize. So naturally I responded, "YAY! What did we win?" After that, my boss never talked to me again about sports! :)

You don't need to know a thing about football to join us at our Friday Iowa/Iowa State Crop on Friday, September 13! But if you are a football fan, you can wear your team colors to the crop and receive 20% OFF your merchandise purchase! You'll have a great time getting caught up on your projects and being inspired by everyone around you! You and your friends can sign up and sit together, or you can come alone -- either way, you're sure have a fun day! Check out the details below, then call us to register at (515) 965-1102!

Girls' Night Out (+1) Picnic!

Hello, Memory Bound friends!
"Good Friends - Good Food - Good Times"

Have you heard about our Girls' Night Out group? This fun group meets monthly for inspiration and sharing! (You can read all about the group HERE.) And I'll let you in on a little secret: Quite often there is FOOD involved! :)

For the August meeting, the ladies decided to have a potluck/picnic. Diane graciously offered her home as the venue. It was a wonderful evening of friendship, laughter, and sharing. And as you can see, there was no shortage of delicious treats!

Since the event took place at Diane's house, her husband Rich joined the group for the evening, making it Girls' Night Out +1! By all accounts, he fit right in! :)

Almost all of our regular ladies attended that evening: Diane, RaNae, Jennifer, Janice, Peggy, Fonda, Diana, Bonnie, Janis, and Karen. What a great group!

We would love to see YOU in this picture! New folks are always welcome! Our next meeting is on September 9, 6-7:30pm (at Memory Bound this time!). It's FREE! Just bring any projects you've been working on to share with the group. It's always fun and inspirational! Come check it out!

Our State Fair is a Great State Fair!

Hey, Memory Bound friends...it's almost time for the Iowa State Fair!
The fair brings hot weather, food on a stick, and many photo ops. Save those precious memories using the huge selection of fair-themed products we have at Memory Bound!

My family has camped at the fair since I was a little girl, so we spend a LOT of time there. Of course, I take hundreds of pictures each year. Sometimes I give myself photo challenges, like taking pictures of everything on a stick, or every type of animal. Taking pictures is one of the best ways to enjoy and remember the fair! I always look forward to scrapbooking my fair memories.

Here are some ideas to help you plan your fair photos this year. Just looking at these pictures makes me excited for fair time!

Save tickets & other memorabilia -- You can put them on a scrapbook page or make them into a mini-album, as I have done several times...

Find extra information online or
in the newspaper to include in journaling, or visit the fair website HERE for lots of information.
Click on "About Us" and "History" for a trip down memory lane!

Get shots of all the things you enjoyed – livestock, food, entertainment, games, Ye Old Mill, the crowd, vendors, contests, etc. Here are a few photo ideas to get you started!

The Agriculture Building, outside...

...and inside!

The Polk County Master Gardeners' area behind the Ag Building--

Animals of all kinds!

I especially love taking pictures of sheep wearing Spandex! :)

Food! There's no shortage of it!

Favorite things to see, like the beautiful quilt exhibits --

-- and the crowds!

And don't forget a few nighttime shots, too. Evenings at the fair are very special! Stand at the top of the hill and try some sunset shots.

...and night shots of your favorite areas.

I hope these ideas will help inspire your fair photography this year! With lots of photos to choose from, you'll be able to create wonderful scrapbook pages or mini-albums your family will treasure for years to come!
