Lots of people ask about Girls' Night Out at Memory Bound. It's always listed on our calendar on the first or second Monday of the month.
But still, people wonder...what IS it?
Girls Night Out (formerly known as Book Club and sometimes referred to as Ladies' Night Out! LOL) is a group which meets monthly at Memory Bound. This group has been around in some form for many years, although the format has changed over time. What remains constant is our desire to inspire and encourage each other!
In our early days, Book Club members used a scrapbooking or card-making idea book as the basis for projects and discussions. Now that we've evolved into Girls Night Out, we decided we no longer need a book -- the ladies who come to GNO are more inspirational than any book could be! At GNO meetings, we simply share projects that we've been working on over the past month. It's very informal and fun. I think all of us would agree that we leave each meeting inspired and ready to try new things.
Coincidentally :) I happened to have my camera at our June GNO meeting and snapped a few photos of some of the ladies who joined us that evening. As usual, we had no shortage of beautiful projects to see!
Linda, one of our newest members, brought an absolutely wonderful star album she created as a tribute to family members who have served in the military.

Each panel has something unique, including this cut-out star.
This is the aerial view! Linda's album will be a treasured keepsake for sure.
Fonda, one of our "founding" members, always delights us with her artistic endeavors! This is an art journal she's been working on using a wide variety of techniques.
She also shared her gorgeous doorknob journals which she created for a recent class. If you ever have a chance to take one of Fonda's classes at Memory Bound, don't miss it. Fonda is a true artist and will inspire you to color outside the lines!
RaNae joined our group last year and always has great projects to share. This month, she brought several projects to show, including these beautiful cards.
RaNae also made this super cool wall-hanging for a recent graduate. What a great way to preserve graduation memorabilia! We loved it!
Diana, who works at Memory Bound and also teaches classes, is one of our most productive members! She scrapbooks for her grandkids and we are always amazed at how much she accomplishes from month to month. This time she brought two of her SMASH books to share.
Here's another page from Diana's SMASH book. She's having a lot of fun collecting memorabilia to put in it!
Andrea is another new member who has been busy scrapbooking photos of her baby! We're very glad she joined us and always enjoy looking at her adorable pages. This time she brought an amazing mobile she created for her son's room!
She made the mobile out of patterned paper and cardstock circles, held together with jump rings. Isn't this the cutest project ever?
I tried to avoid the camera (!), but Fonda grabbed it and took a picture of me sharing a project for an upcoming class. Alas, I thought I'd have complete control over this photo shoot... :)
And here's Diane, the store manager at Memory Bound and also our fearless leader. She brought along a wedding planning binder she made for her daughter, Jana, who is getting married next June. This is such a great idea and will make a wonderful keepsake after the big day!

It is good to see your smiling faces and beautiful projects. Fonda and Diana, you need to look at the camera. I miss you all.
ReplyDeleteWe miss you, too, Sharon! You'll have to arrange your next trip to Iowa to coincide with GNO! Janet
