The Memory Bound Girls' Night Out group had a very fun and inspirational February meeting! In fact, I took so many photos at our meeting that I'll be splitting this post into two parts.
If you're not familiar with Girls' Night Out (sometimes known as LADIES' Night Out!), it's a group which meets monthly to share projects and inspiration. There is no fee to attend and new members are always welcome! You can read more about our group in this post.
Our February meeting was a special one because most of our members brought their circle projects. A circle project is created to be passed among a group of friends. Each person contributes to the project as suggested by the owner, then passes it on to the next person until everyone in the group has contributed. Circle projects are often journals or scrapbooks. But the women of Girls' Night Out didn't limit themselves to journals. Take a look at these creative ideas! (Click on the photos for a closer look.)
Fonda's circle project is a "Favorite Iowa Places" journal/scrapbook. We all loved how she used an old license plate for the cover! Fonda is asking each person in our group to make an "entry" in her travel book about their favorite Iowa site.
Diana made a colorful and eclectic friendship journal/scrapbook.
Diana was inspired by the new whimsical Dylusions stamps. We all loved how she made a page to represent herself using the stamped images! Each person will add a page of her own creation to Diana's book.
Karen made a beautiful art journal. Her project includes several creative "prompts" to inspire each person. Her challenge for us is to create a page about ourselves using a variety of fun and interesting techniques.
Janis took a fun and different approach to the circle concept. She created a binder with card-making prompts. The binder has a section for each month with card ideas included. Each person who receives it will make seasonal cards and add them to the pockets in her book. What a fun and practical idea!
RaNae's project is an "Essence of You" journal. This beautiful project will allow all of us to get to know each other better.
Each person will create an interesting little folder-type sleeve which has plenty of room to share photos and journaling. RaNae prepared all the materials so that each person can assemble and decorate a folder to represent herself!
Jill's project is also beautiful! She created a lovely little calendar on an acrylic stand. Each person will make a page for the calendar using the materials and inspiration she provided.
Once everyone had shared their projects, we drew names to determine who would be the first person to receive each of one. At our next meeting, we'll share progress and pass them on to the next person in line.
We could not have been more impressed with the amount of thought and creativity that went into these beautiful projects! I hope that seeing just a few glimpses of our circle projects may inspire you to start one of your own with your crafting friends!

Wish that I were there. Karen, you didn't do blocks this time! These are all beautiful projects and I can't wait to see what ppl add to them next month. Sharon W.
ReplyDeleteSharon, no I didn't do blocks but I brought them in March so everyone could reminisce. it seems like each person remembered how fun it was and wanted to see how their collage turned out, and the memory of how frustrating it was to get those darn cubes covered was somewhat less "traumatic". Ha ha! there's still one side left if you want to do another one!
